Hello! I am Neha Varma, a Speech Language Pathologist licensed in the State of Illinois and certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association ( ASHA). I obtained my Master’s in Speech Language Pathology from Illinois State University. I hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA and Illinois Early Intervention credential including evaluator credentials in the State of Illinois. I have been practicing since 2014, with experience across all age groups in various settings that include hospitals, skilled nursing homes, school, outpatient clinics and my current private practice, Serve Therapy.
My interests include early childhood development, motor and sound disorders, language disorders, dysphagia and orofacial myofunctional disorders. I constantly strive to keep up to date by staying abreast with the latest research and ongoing professional development. Prior to my career in Speech Pathology, I completed my bachelor’s in dental surgery and was a practicing dentist. In addition to my knowledge in oral musculature, I have completed extensive training and certification in orofacial myology from International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM). I believe that by addressing the root causes of speech disorders, sleep apnea, chronic mouth breathing and orthodontic concerns, orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT) can lead to long-term improvements in overall oral facial health, communication and swallowing.
As a part of a research study with the Early Intervention Research Group at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, I have completed specialized training to identify autism characteristics in toddlers and to conduct family-centered, culturally responsive evaluations.
More about me: I live with my husband, son and dog Yoda in Naperville, IL. I enjoy traveling, art, music and reading.
